Ah soo much to update on. Bought my new iPhone 3G, finished my mini tour at Old C's yet again, AND got my travel mug after the 70th beer. Also found out the results of the CIB interviews and did fairly well so hopefully I'll be offered an inside job here in the next two months.... we'll have to wait and see what happen...

Viva La Revoluccion!
Las Vegas summer vacation 2008 is almost over now. I have spent the last week enjoying blissful days sitting by the side of the pool, eating scrumptious food, and watching staff scurrying around to make us comfortable. There is nothing like a margarita brought to you as you're sitting in the pool enjoying the nice cool water while browning.

Mumbai city officials are upset by an American warning about the risks of falling into manholes in India's commercial capital during the monsoon season.
An item posted on the U.S. consulate website said that municipal workers in Mumbai sometimes open manhole covers at times of heavy flooding and then leave them unattended and unmarked.
"It's possible that you could inadvertently step into an open manhole," said the warning, issued after the monsoon rains arrived at the weekend.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation rejected the statement, and said it had e-mailed the U.S. consulate on Wednesday stating it had cast the city in a bad light.
Jairaj Phatak, the municipal commissioner, estimates that 10 people or fewer have died in such a manner in recent years.
Elizabeth Kauffman, a spokeswoman for the consulate, said they did not mean to hurt anyone's feelings. The consulate has since added a single sentence to its online advisory, saying open manholes are sometimes marked with tree branches.

Regular Days...
Back to my regular work day before I'm off for the weekend again. Just getting ready to head in for my morning abusement although today will be a nice easy day on the stride thingy machine. The past two weeks has put a beating on my body and I need a few days to recover before I hit it hard again.
Finished up with helping on recruit training last night, pretty much ended up like I expected it to. Hopefully in the next few weeks they'll become a little more confident and comfortable in their element, otherwise their FTO experience is going to be less than desirable.
So am I getting to be too skinny? There's been comment made on my twice a day cardio and how the ladies may not find that sexy therefore hampering my sex life... any comments anyone? On a good note I'm hovering down at 230 now, I have to end up burning some extra calories to lean down to 225 otherwise I'll become a no neck Quasimodo. It would probably help if I cut down on some of the supplements that make me shoot up to 240 range but it's hard to resist the temptations.
Anyways many apologies to those that I have neglected lately with my antisocial behavior. I know I haven't been very good about maintaining contact so hopefully in the next few months things will quiet down a little for me. I can't say I'm not looking forward to taking off for a few weeks to Vegas next month... of course I am celebrating one more year closer to 30 and I'm not sure if I'm ready for that...

Ugh my achilles is killing me this morning... spent eight hours running from recruits last night for their foot pursuit training. Unfortunately for them not one managed to catch me even with one leg being lame and injured... tsk tsk...
Debating on whether to head to the gym or not but I know it's a lost cause... I'll end up going. I'm just going to have to skip my run(s) today since I still have the second half of the recruit class to "train" tonight. Once more into the breach dear fellows...

So I went out today and found a new kitchen table to go along with the new dining room and kitchen. Come friday my new countertops and installed and ready to go.
I've been tired lately between running twice a day, going to the gym, heading to work, ending up working a few hours of overtime and not having any days off in the past two weeks. Ahhhh finally, I'm sitting here doing not a god damn thing. I thought about heading to the movies today but decided that was alot of work. Did manage to get the lawn mowed again so it's looking nice and green. I do have to go pick up some sod to patch up some spots where the truck ran over it this winter... oh well there's always tomorrow.

Random Thoughts

Lalalala I'm bored and it's been about two weeks since I last wrote so here I am. Haven't taken a day off in the last two weeks but that's ok because at least it gives me something to do.
Heard about a friend being stalked, still haven't received an answer from her in regards to that... ahem
ABLE-1 just picked up a new helicopter with a bigger engine so it might be able to handle my extra weight and take off now....
Actually arrested someone in Elkhorn the other night for drunk driving....
Going to head to Cheeseburger in Paradise tonight for El Cubano and a FROZEN Margarita....
Finalized the countertops for the kitchen which are set to be installed May 9... two months after work started in the kitchen by the way....
Waited for my food at Village Inn this morning for an hour before it was finally delivered to the table... waitress apologized and gave us the senior citizens discount....
Thinking about having some apple pie when I leave here today although I should go to the gym since it's been two days since I last went....

Dude Looks Like A Lady
An elderly woman was shopping and upon returning to her car found four males about to take off in her vehicle. She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun and screamed at the top of her lungs, "I have a gun and I know how to use it. Get out of the car!" The four men didn't wait for a second threat. They got out and ran like mad. The lady, somewhat shaken proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and then got into the driver's seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition.
She tried and tried and then she realized what was wrong. Probably the football, Frisbee and two 12 pack of beer on the front seat gave her a clue. She found her own car parked four or five spaces away.
She loaded her bags into her car and drove to the police station to report the mistake. When she told her story, the sergeant couldn't stop laughing. He pointed to the end of the counter where four pale men were reporting a car-jacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, with curly white hair and carrying a large handgun. No charges were filed.

Viva Las Vegas
Before I forget... Las Vegas 2008 is officially on. June 15 myself and my beautiful bride will be winging it to the west in order to partake of sin city for a week of decadent pleasure... more to follow...
St. Patty's Day Mini Beer Tour
Alright ladies and gentlemen...
After many requests for answers, I have now been granted permission to make the following release...
I did complete my mini beer tour while I was "living" in Des Moines... I have recently (as of yesterday) received notification that I was selected as a finalist in a contest to visit the Boulevard Brewing Company in Kansas City next month and taste some of their tasty brew courtesy of Old Chicagos. I did get a nice shirt to with it so we'll see if I actually win and get to visit good ole KC. It's been a while and it would be nice to see my one and only relative living within 1200 miles of me.
Well I've managed to work three whole days in my new area on the new crew in the past two weeks. To say that it's a different experience is well... putting it mildly. Talk about night and day in terms of attitudes, experience, and people. I actually was thanked three times the other night and I had to sit and look at the first person that said it wondering if they were being sarcastic.
First call of the day was great. Dispatched to suspicious activity in a rather upscale neighborhood. When I arrive, I make contact with the caller inside her house. She tells me that someone drove by her house threw something that hit her house before continuing on down the street. When she heard the thud she ran to the window and saw the van driving down the street with the driver throwing things at houses randomly. I take a quick look in the area that she indicated and find a newspaper....
For the most part it's been boring and quiet. I get off work early enough where I have nothing to do but wait for Jenni to get home so I partake of the precinct gym and run for an hour just to pass the time. It is a much nicer gym, not to mention building compared to what I was used to at Northeast. Even with the much shorter drive, general lack of drama, nicer building, better equipment, I miss Northeast. Sometimes I sit and think that I made a mistake leaving. Well it's only for six months....

DSM Part II
Well it's sunday again, time to head back to Des Moines for one more last week. I should have left about two hours ago but I can't seem to summon the energy to get in the truck and start the drive. I've been doing a Survivor Marathon all this weekend ever since I hooked up the Apple TV. A few more episodes and I'll be done with all of Season 9. There were a few tidbits that went on during the season that I had completely forgotten about so it's always good to have a refresher.
Honestly I can't wait for it to be Friday already so that I can be home. Made the trip to NFM this morning before Jenni had to head to work and picked out the final countertop, bought the tile to match the countertop, and now it's just a matter of scheduling them to come in after Bob is done with his piece of the pie. Come monday the 17th, it's game on.

DSM -- No Not the Crazy Diagnostic Book
So here I am living for the next two weeks in the great state of Iowa. It's been a while since I slept in Iowa for more than 24 hours in a row and I'm still adjusting. Ugh this morning was so boring listening to Financial Investigations that I almost poked my eyeballs out. I had to amuse myself sending random text messages. Thank god for lunch time, I had a chance to recharge my batteries although I did avoid the dining facility like it was carrying the plague.
I took one look at the stir fried shrimp and out the door I went. I satisfied the pangs of hunger I was experiencing by mixing up a protein shake in my hotel room. Phew thank god I remembered to pack that, talk about a lifesaver. Chilled out for an hour before I drove back to post for another four hours that I wasn't looking forward to. Luckily after lunch the IRS guy was gone and we moved on to surveillance taught by one of the DEA guys. That moved along quite briskly as I found that mostly interesting. I did sit and piddle around with my phone reading the news for a bit. I debated on watching National Treasure but I figured that would be to blatant at this point so I abstained.
I can't wait until Friday so I can sleep in my own bed! YES! Jenni has to work all weekend so we won't have a chance to go out and do anything but at least she'll be sharing the bed with me. I did wake up a few times last night checking the other side of the bed before I remembered where I was. Kind of bummed me out but what can you do. It's only for a few more days so I'll just have to suck it up.
So I went downstairs and had Bennigans for dinner. I figure since the feds are paying for it, let's splurge and have the ribeye. Threw in a blue moon beer and sat with some people from the class. Quite honestly though I wasn't ready to hear about the code Brown from the 30 something chick whose name I don't even remember. What I really was surprised to hear was Jamaal ask me what a Code Brown was. It was worth the look on his face when I told him what it was to have heard her say it in the first place. I did pass on the invitation to head to the mall with them. I figured I'd learned a little too much during dinner time for me to hear more.

Tired

Ugh I've been to work one day so far this week and I've accumulated 16 hours of O/T. For that reason I took yesterday off and when I got home at 5pm... I took a nap until 8ish or so. Woke up, had dinner with Jenni who was nice enough to have made dinner even though both of us have been dragging lately. Saw the latest episode of the L word, looks like things are seriously heating up as the season is close to coming to an end. Looks like this is going to be a long dreary day. I don't feel like heading to the gym today but since I didn't have an opportunity yesterday morning and by evening time I was done for the day, I suppose I'd better head in today.
Next week... Des Moines for two weeks. That's going to be tough sticking with my meal plan, getting to a gym, and avoiding the temptation of a beer or two with the guys after work. Looks like I'll be hanging out in my hotel room watching tv... better bring the laptop and iPod so I have something to play with.

Well this is what my night consisted off last night. Had the final hoorah for the now defunct 40 Crew in the upcoming shift change. Ended up sitting until 1am at Sam and Louie's in Gretna even though they close at 9pm. I have to admit, I wasn't very keen on the ale to begin with but once I got into my fifth one, it was seriously growing on me.
I'm not sure that the drinking did me all that good with being sick the last few days. I woke up again this morning looking for the Robitussin as it feels like my throat has swollen to twice it's normal size. I believe I'm going to lay around and do nothing for the rest of my morning until it's time for me to go to work. No gym today as it's Sunday which as we all know, is a day of rest.

Survivor
Well finally caught up on my Survivor Micronesia episodes with Jenni. This has got to be the best season I've seen so far. Of course you putting together a tribe of past Survivors, pure genuis! They're not even bothering to scheme behind others backs. The melodrama has reached an all time high! Who would have expected that Ozzie would hook up with Amanda and James with Parvati. I'm not so sure about getting down in the middle of the jungle after not having showered for a few weeks but I suppose that true love can't wait.
Joel I'm not so sure about especially after his "James was the biggest survivor ever, that is until this season." The guy looks like your typical knuckle dragging gorilla without the ability to read without his lips moving. I know there's a place and time for talking trash but who in the game was going to hear that during his private interview time? What an idiot, I hope the tribe turns on him at the first opportune time and boots his butt out. Voting Yau-man out as soon as they did was probably the best strategic move the opposing alliance could have made. Yau would have been a hands down choice to win a million dollars, afterall who wouldn't give Yau a million dollars? I would give Yau a million dollars, he's a great guy. I'm hoping that when it's all said and done it comes down to James or Ozzie. At this point in time I'm still torn about who to pull for.

Why all of a sudden?
Well I've decided to start my own blog. What could I possibly say that is so interesting? I don't know... yet. I guess you're going to have to stay tuned for updates.....
